Robert Burns’ ‘To a Mouse’ is a marvel of unforced
rhyme. Not a word is out of place. His phrase ‘of mice and men’ was borrowed by
Steinbeck years later. ‘To a Spider’ is
a humble tribute to the master.
‘The Tall Girl from
Somerset.’ Henry ambles
on. Being retired he has plenty of time
to do this. I suppose he just needs someone to listen to him.
