Today's posts
Today’s poem is ‘The Observer's Book of British Birds’.
Another year has passed and Christmas is upon us
once more. ‘The Observer's Book of British Birds’ is not a Christmas poem but it
does mention the robin, which is one of the traditional images of the season in
Britain, along with mince pies and Christmas pudding. The robin, perched on a
spade in a snow-covered garden, is a favourite on Christmas cards.
In fact, all through the year, the moment you pick
up a fork and start digging the garden, the robin appears and, thinking you are
working entirely for him, starts hunting for worms.
The Tall Girl from Somerset’. Today
is chapter 34. ‘A Coca Cola, a sunset, Henry and a German tankard’
Happy Christmas!
