Letter in a bottle

I wrote to you a letter,

The night you said goodbye.

I put it in a bottle

And the bottle in the sea,

So now it travels on the tide,

And floats each day away from me.

I have about as good a chance,

You’ll find it on some beach one day

Washed up there by the sea,

As that you’ll have a change of heart

And come back home to me.

But stranger things have happened,

I tell myself each day.

And as I walk along the sand

And look far out to sea

I’m sure one day we’ll meet again

And you’ll walk again with me.
