The poem today is ‘Mr and Mrs Andrews’. Gainsborough painted the portrait around 1750. It was still in the Andrews family until 1960 and was relatively unknown until then. No other painting shows a stormy September day in the English countryside as well as this.

The letter from my terrace in Palma is number 19, ‘Two’s company and so are three or four or more’. Now, in the pandemic, friends are more important than ever.

The fifth part of ‘The Red Ferrari’ is ‘April gives some advice, and there are four phone calls’.
