Today's posts
Today’s poem is ‘An Old Tale
of Swan’s Ale’. Why not
something lighter for a change? Today is playtime on Parnassus!
I am also going to post the
long poem ‘Dorigen’, and today you have the first part. For those of you who
have seen it already, I hope you enjoy reading it once more. For those who are
meeting it for the first time, it will take you on a journey to medieval
Brittany to an age long before Chaucer wrote about his pilgrims on their way to
Canterbury. One of these pilgrims, the franklin, told the tale of Dorigen. This is a version of that story.
Where Chaucer’s rhymes were
crying out to be included, I have respected their wishes.
