Today's posts

Today’s poem is   ‘Conversation by a bougainvillea’.   There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can compare with walking in the fields and along the hedgerows in England in April.

Today’s letter from my terrace is a tribute to Gilbert White.  His letters, written in the 18th century from the little village of Selbourne, have something, hard to define, which makes you read them year after year. According to one reckoning his collection of the letters, the ‘Natural History of Selbourne’, is the fourth most published book in English.
