Last week, in a pub, I met a man

who said he had a friend who knew

another man who’d made the claim

that one afternoon for an hour or two

he had been happy.

Concern and worry come unasked.

They have a way of sneaking past

the best defences you can make,

and travel down the road you take.

they’ll tire and leave you for a day.

Insure your house, your life, your car,

there’s no insuring a state of mind.
